Redefining Treasure – Day 2 – Autumn’s Golden Road

Hi. As you can see, by either the web address or the title above, this is serious business. Now don’t go away from the page because it’s not that serious, just important. So pay attention. I want to take you on a few weeks of vacation to other places and other worlds, where, with me, you will learn to redefine the word Treasure.

When I think of the word Treasure,  I think of a road where autumn has just shown it’s face. I think of the crunch of leaves as I weave in and out of trees. I think of the sound of delighted voices up the road where children and and leap into piles of leaves. I think of the youthful innocence only children can have. I think of the birds, the chirping, and the lurching movement of their wings, as they migrate to a place unseen.  I think of the sticky sap that clings to my skin as I walk under the large tree branches heading home. And even now I can still smell the chilling fresh air that comes in right before winter makes it’s presence known.

So how do you define treasure?

Thanks!

Redefining Treasure – Day 1 – Relaxing day on the beach

Hi. As you can see, by either the web address or the title above, this is serious business. Now don’t go away from the page because it’s not that serious, just important. So pay attention. I want to take you on a few weeks of vacation to other places and other worlds, where, with me, you will learn to redefine the word Treasure.

What comes to find when you read the word, Treasure? Is it pirates, Jewels, Treasure Island, or some bauble that you found? I want to make it my mission to change the way you define treasure. When I think of treasure, I think of jewels. That is the first thing that lodges into my mind when I see the word, treasure.

If you give me a few more seconds I begin to think of the ocean. The way the waves crawl up the shore and slowly shrink back into the waters, like a little kid who was scared of a dog’s bite, or a bee’s sting. I think of the way you leave a trail of footprints in the sand as your nostrils breath in the fresh salty air. I think of the feeling of the thick sunblock on your skin, and feeling of warmth that spreads on your face when sunlight glints off the waves. I think of the fear and curiosity you felt when you were a child and saw a crab crawl lopsidedly across the sand. I also think of the squeals of delight when a child rushes up into the oceans waving arms. I think of looking down and finding a shell, then another and thinking, this is the perfect day. And at the end of the day, when I think of treasure, I can still hear the seagulls crying out above my head, searching the shallow shore and tide pools for their next meal.

Do jewels and pirates pop into your head when you think of the word treasure? This month I hope to change your perspective and the way you think, to change words, like treasure, Into something with meaning.

Well that’s all today, thanks for reading.
